68 days ago, City Commission by a 6 to 1 vote approves Library bond issue for May 6th 2014 election

From the November 25th 2013
 City Commision  meeting minutes.

Today at the Long Range Planning Session

The Baldwin Library will not be ben presenting today. At least not in the classic sense. The Library and  City Commission after two plus years  are well acquainted with each other  and see no need.

The Library's plans for remodelling and expanding have passed every City test  including a 6 to 1 vote from City Commission last November to put the Library's plans  on the May ballot for residents to  approve or reject.

Since that November vote however, as with all things that cost money, the critics have emerged. Thus it has been suggested that the library vote be delayed to a later date in  July, August or November.

The May date selected however was arrived at in early 2013 by the Joint Library Building Committee and there are cost factors associated with such a delay. Library Director Doug Koschik has addressed them in writing and they will be discussed at today at approximately 10 to 10:30am. The letter is Agenda item 301B.
A copy of the letter is in the adjacent post.
