Alexa Melstrom and Jack Kellet
Baldwin Library is fortunate to have two outstanding high school juniors serving as student representatives for one year terms on the Library Board. Once a month Birmingham residents Alexa Melstrom and Jack Kellett share their perspectives with the Board and experience how a municipal board conducts business. Kellett is a student at the University of Detroit Jesuit High School in Detroit, and Melstrom is a junior at Marian High School in Bloomfield Hills.
Library Board Trustee Sheila Brice said, “like the Groves and Seaholm students who served as student representatives to the Board in prior years, Alexa and Jack have the opportunity to provide input, develop leadership skills, earn community service hours, and learn more about careers in libraries. We are grateful to the student reps who help recruit students to volunteer on the semi-annual used book sale set-ups.”
