The Taylor matter is somewhat analogous to that of our City in so much as it involves a municipality up grading from a small hauler to a larger one. What is unusual in the Taylor up grade is that is that the City had two years remaining on it's contract with Midwest Sanitation of Inkster and a No Bid Contract.
If Taylor contracts with Rizzo's successor GFL (who now serves The City of Bloomfield Hills) and all options are approved by the Taylor seven member city council The Free Press reports GFL stands to make almost twenty million dollars.
The City of Taylor reportedly approach other vendors about taking over the Midwest Contract but the declined to take over the City's Garbage Trucks which still carry debt. Rizzo however agreed to by them prior to being bought out by GFL.
The reader who has persisted to this point may ask what does this have to do with The City of Bloomfield Hills and the answer is nothing and everything.
