Eight vie for Township Library Board Seat at Saturday Public Interviews.

Editor's note: This is the same system as used by the Bloomfield Hills Schools to fill a vacancy on the Board of Education. Birmingham Schools also conducted public interviews in selecting a school superintendent after conducting  a nationwide search. The Boards, and the institution they serve,  benefit from a clearly defined  selection process. In addition  the community benefits when avenues of participation in serving the community are identified.

The two hour and twenty minutes estimated time for the interviews is approximately that of a feature film. Friends of the library or residents who attend all or even some of the interviews will learn a great about their Library Board and fellow residents who wish to become Board members. While only one person will be selected for the position, The section process is a good way of identifying potential future leaders in the community.

The timing is rather auspicious because in the immediate future the Library Board will begin the search/selection process for a new director.
