In West Bloomfield (West) Klint Kesto wins re-election as State Rep 39th district by a margin of 1442 votes out of of 32,000 cast.

The Township of West Bloomfield  which consists of 60,000 people  is split  in to two Districts for the State House of Representatives. The Eastern half  the 40th,  is represented by Michael McCready.
The Western half  which comprises  the 39th district  and extends out as far as Wixon was  was particularly contentious this year.  There were  two challengers in the  August primary which  for  the incumbent  is costly in terms of time and money.

In the FalL election , The Free Press noted the 39th district race  as one  of interest and indicative of West Bloomfield becoming increasingly more democratic before endorsing Kesto's challenger Sandy Covin.

The failure to win  a major endorsement  is s neither a fiasco, or necessarily, fatal but it does put everyone working for the campaign in a funk. It can also put a crimp on contributions. In politics everyone loves a winner.

The precinct map at the top of the page indicates a North/South split with  Precinct 4
(Scotch Pine Elementary)  being  the only exception.
The deciding factor however was the in person voter. Here  Kesto topped challenger Colvin by a margin of 1680 votes. Colvin however won the absentee vote battle by 238 votes.   The difference between the two is the exact margin of victory. Kesto's campaign crews who worked West Bloomfield Library and other locations were the deciding factors in a very close election.

Editor's note: An astute reader may  wonder why we are reporting on a election with precincts as far away as Wixom.

Well it was one of the  closest elections  in  election day of lopsided results.

Strange as it may seem we do have readers in West Bloomfield.

We also have a few readers who are cognizant of the local political scene  and want all the details.

In addition  many residents  in the City of Bloomfield Hills know Klint Kesto as friend of our State  Rep Michael McCready. They have worked  together on joint projects and presentations  at local libraries on topics like human trafficking and helping seniors spot and avoid financial scams. In Lansing the offices of   the two reps are right next to each other and across the street from the State Capitol.

Challenges and primaries are a fact of life in politics. Those who overcome them get noticed You will be hearing more about  Klint Kesto.
